MEET CHUCK

BORN IN ALPHARETTA

Chuck was born to Charles and Betty Martin in Alpharetta, Georgia, in 1961.


ATTENDS THE UNIVERSITY OF GEORGIA

Chuck graduated from the University of Georgia in 1983 with a BBA in Management Science and was a member of the 1980 National Championship football team.

INTO THE CITY LIMITS

Chuck moved into Fairfax on Rucker Road with Johnna, ran for Alpharetta City Council, and won in a four-person race.

ELECTED TO REPRESENT GEORGIA'S 49TH HOUSE DISTRICT

After serving his hometown for 10 years on the Alpharetta City Council, Chuck was elected to serve his 49th District neighbors at the State Capitol in 2002. He represents parts of Alpharetta, Johns Creek, and Roswell.

APPOINTED CHAIRMAN OF HOUSE BUDGET AND FISCAL AFFAIRS OVERSIGHT COMMITTEE

Rep. Martin was appointed Chairman of the House Budget and Fiscal Affairs Oversight Committee in 2011, passing legislation to create the State Tax Expenditures Report which initiates accountability as it relates to the spending of taxpayer dollars.

TODAY

When he is not down at the Capitol working for the constituents of the 49th District or at his day job as a Director for Ryan, LLC, Chuck can be found spending time with his 4 grandchildren!

GRADUATED FROM MILTON HIGH SCHOOL

Chuck graduated from Milton High School in 1979 and walked on to play football at the University of Georgia.



MARRIES JOHNNA

Chuck married Johnna, and they had two sons, Miles and Lance who both graduated from Milton High School. He began volunteer coaching in Alpharetta, following in his father's footsteps of service to community.

ELECTED MAYOR OF ALPHARETTA

After completing numerous transportation and recreation improvements with no tax increase and leading on a bond issue that built the Alpharetta Recreation Center, Chuck was elected as Mayor of Alpharetta.

APPOINTED CHAIRMAN OF HOUSE APPROPRIATIONS COMMITTEE – PUBLIC SAFETY

APPOINTED CHAIRMAN OF HOUSE APPROP. COMMITTEE – PUBLIC SAFETY

Rep. Martin was appointed Chairman of the House Appropriations Committee–Public Safety by the House Committee on Assignments in 2007. He kept a watchful eye on expenditures while supporting our law enforcement officers and their efforts for criminal justice reform, like the Fulton County Drug Court offering non-violent offenders a second chance.

APPOINTED CHAIRMAN OF HOUSE HIGHER EDUCATION COMMITTEE

In 2019, Rep. Martin was appointed Chairman of the House Higher Education Committee, focusing on protecting and preserving the HOPE and Zell Miller Scholarships.
